Mentoring programme is a journey towards deepening both your practical and theoretical knowledge of a unique and within the world the most widespread system of yoga with history and traditions. Study of Iyengar yoga is suitable not only for enthusiastic practitioners who want to understand their life journey and undergo a transformation, but also for future teachers of Iyengar yoga. Most of all, it is meant for those who want to attend 10 intensive workshops within one calendar year under supervision of an experienced mentor.
The term “mentoring” originated from the wish of founder Guruji BKS Iyengara and is based upon simple yet vital reality: every teacher should primarily be an enthusiastic and curious student. Effort and interest in the study is obviously a necessity. Vital and basic prerequisite is also a regular and continuous practice under the guidance of experienced, at least senior, teacher (mentor).
The method of teaching Iyengar yoga has its world centre in Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in south-Indian Puna, where the children and grandchildren of BKS Iyengar, namely Geeta (✝ 16.12.2018), Prashant, and Abhijata, currently live and teach. Since 2017, RIMYI has started to emphasise the form of mentoring as a systematic approach to development of teaching students, future teachers and already certified teachers of Iyengar yoga.
